Meg McElligott, SBB (ASCP)
VP and Chief Quality Officer
Meg is responsible for the regulatory compliance for VERSITI and its affiliates, ensuring that we are in compliance with applicable regulations and standards. She oversees Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs across all of our regulated areas, including Blood Services, Diagnostic Laboratories, Clinical and Contract Research, Organ Procurement Organization, and Tissue Bank. She is also responsible for Quality Management Systems and Safety across all VERSITI affiliates. Meg is also responsible for the Healthcare Technology Management function serving Versiti Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana.
Meg began her career at BCW in 1976, doing both research and clinical laboratory testing to determine HLA compatibility of potential organ donors and recipients. She led the development of the unrelated bone marrow donor program at BCW — before there was a National Marrow Donor Program. Meg spent the next 20 years serving BCW’s Diagnostic Laboratories, where she was manager and later administrative director. Her accomplishments in her lab roles included implementation of two laboratory computer systems, complete renovation of the second and fifth floor laboratories-in Wisconsin,, She became vice president of Quality Support Services for BCW in 2006, and Chief Quality Officer for Versiti in 2013.
Meg earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Marquette University, and obtained her Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) certification following completion of BCW’s SBB Program. She is the recipient of BloodCenter of Wisconsin’s Tibor Greenwalt Award in 2016 and was recognized by the Milwaukee Business Journal as a Woman of Influence in 2018.
