Testing to determine when antibodies directed against the person's own red blood cells (RBCs) cause them to burst (lyse), leading to an insufficient number of oxygen-carrying red blood cells in the circulation.

Clot Tubes (red top) and EDTA Whole Blood (lavender top)
Additional Sample Requirements
Transfused within the past three months: 5 ml EDTA Whole Blood (lavender top) and three 10 ml Clot Tubes (red top).
Requested Volume
No transfusion(s) in past three months: Hgb <5.0 g/dl draw: Three 7 ml Clot Tubes (red top) and ten 5 ml EDTA Whole Blood (lavender top); Hgb >5.0 g/dl draw: Three 7 ml Clot Tubes (red top) and three 7 ml EDTA Whole Blood (lavender top)
