Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia Evaluation is a reflexive algorithm. IgG-PF4 ELISA is always performed. If ELISA results are non-negative a Serotonin Release Assay will be performed.

Additional Sample Requirements
Sample should be spun down and taken off the clot. Sample must be received within 7 days of draw date if refrigerated. Older serum samples are acceptable if they have been frozen. Room temperature samples are not acceptable.
Refrigerated (If already frozen, send on dry ice)
Platelet Factor 4 (PF4) ELISA and if indicated Serotonin Release Assay (SRA)
Performed 6 days per week (Monday through Saturday)
