Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin launches Every Drop Counts challenge

Milwaukee – February 7, 2019

Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin is bringing together big names in business from around the state to save lives in our community through the Every Drop Counts community challenge.

All year long, Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin and 10 statewide organizations that represent a variety of industries will hold employee and community blood drives for the common cause of improving community health and bringing awareness to the ongoing, life-saving need for blood donations. The organizations include Northwestern Mutual, Aurora Health Care, Divine Savior Healthcare (Portage, Wis.), Harley-Davidson, Kohler Co., MillerCoors, UnitedHealth Group, Quad/Graphics – Lomira, Milwaukee Tool and Kenosha Tremper High School.

“Northwestern Mutual employees have been proud to support the Milwaukee community’s needs through the blood drives we’ve held at our company for decades,” said Northwestern Mutual CEO John Schlifske. “As a blood donor myself, I know you can count on our employees to contribute to the success of ‘Every Drop Counts’ in 2019.”

Organizations who participated last year are encouraged to exceed their 2018 blood donation goal. The organization who collects the most donations by Dec. 31, 2019 will be publicly recognized by Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin and receive a traveling trophy to proudly display at their organization.

The Every Drop Counts program was started in 2018, and collected more than 1,800 donations through 72 community and employee blood drives throughout Wisconsin last year. As one donation can impact up to three lives, this program potentially impacted more than 5,600 patients in our community and beyond.

This year, the program has expanded from three to eight participating organizations, with the goal of exceeding last year’s donation totals and encouraging more blood donations to help patients in need across Wisconsin.

“People need people, and patients in need everywhere rely on the dedication and generosity of blood donors. Together with our corporate partners, the Every Drop Counts program will strengthen the health of communities throughout Wisconsin and advance our life-saving mission,” said Versiti CEO Chris Miskel.

Organizations who would like to participate can contact Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin to learn more.
