“Donating your placenta makes the birth of your baby even more special, because the first thing your child does when coming into the world is give back to someone else.”

Jessica Kidd

Due to a surgery to remove uterine fibroids, Jessica Kidd knew a C-section would be part of her son’s birth story. “The incisions for my fibroid surgery were similar to a C-section, and my doctor didn’t want to risk any type of rupture by me having a traditional birth with Jackson,” she says.

When Jessica learned that a scheduled C-section would allow her to donate her placenta, it made Jackson’s birth even more meaningful. “I was excited when I found out we would be able to donate the placenta,” she says. “I’m a blood donor and know the importance of helping others. I felt so glad that the joy of bringing our wonderful son into the world allowed us to also bring joy into someone else’s life through birth tissue donation.”

Jessica encourages others to consider placenta donation and make a positive difference in others’ lives. “Versiti makes the process so easy,” she says. “And it makes the birth of your baby even more special, because the first thing your child does when coming into the world is give back to someone else.”
