Versiti Blood Center of Illinois is thrilled to announce a call for applicants for the 2022 Dennis Mestrich Scholarship. Up to five $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to Illinois students focused on or pursuing careers in blood banking, healthcare, and research.
Established in 2015, the Dennis Mestrich Scholarship Fund honors the contributions of the former CEO of Heartland Blood Center (now Versiti Blood Center of Illinois) during his 18-year tenure. The scholarship aims to provide recipients with professional development opportunities that serve the greater Chicago community by leveraging medical and technical expertise.
The deadline to apply is July 30, 2022. To be considered for one of these scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be a current high school senior, graduate or current undergraduate who resides in, or attends school in, one of the following counties in Illinois or Indiana:
o Illinois: Cook, Dekalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake County, LaSalle, McHenry, Will, Lee, Ogle
o Indiana: Lake County, LaPorte
• Be enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the 2022-2023 academic year.
• Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
